Hip Flexor Strain!

Are you experiencing anterior hip pain and tightness?

It might be a hip flexor strain!

Hip flexor strain is injury of the one or more of the anterior muscles of the hip, which cause anterior hip, thigh or groin pain.

The hip flexors are responsible for flexion of hip that requires the knee to lift in the direction of the chest. This movement is conducted during sprinting and kicking activity.

The cause of injury is typically from excessive tension on the anterior hip anatomy, from doing too much repetition or high force activities i.e. sprints, bike riding. If an athlete is undergoing improper training routines and doesn’t implement proper resting phases in training, the athlete is more susceptible to acquiring this injury.

Symptoms:

You many feel sudden sharp pain or puling sensation in front of the hip or groin at the time of injury. In minor strains, pain may be minimal allowing continued activity.

In severe cases, you may experience severe pain, muscle spasm, weakness and inability to continue activity.

Home remedies:

Ice treatment, stretches, reduce stress in area, anti -inflammatory advice, correct biomechanics, progressive strengthening once inflammation subsides.

Stay Healthy!
