Ever find yourself in the same old rut when it comes to your
workouts? Doing the same workout over and over is not only
boring—it also slows down your results by not giving your
muscles a chance to recover. Alternate your exercise routine,
for example take a Pilates class on Monday and then lift
weights on Wednesday.Pilates will help you keep your flexibility
during your normal weekly routine of strength training.
This basic change up will keep your body guessing producing
measurable improvements in your overall fitness level.
To enhance strength gains you have to change the exercises,
the repetitions, and resistance used weekly! It is hard work but
you know the old saying, "you get out what you put in."
Exercise diversification is the key to getting results. The body
has the ability to adapt fast to exercise routines. Tricking the
body to do unfamiliar activities will push your body into gear
exceeding pleateaus. The adaptation theory is not only subjective
to resistance training, it is associated with cardiovascular training
as well. Just the normal routine of running or walking a mile won't
cut it! To get the desired results you have to change it up a bit.
For instance everyday of the week you should do something different
ranging from high impact cardio to low impact cardio. Of course
your decision will be based on your athletic ability and goal
at state. For example:
Monday- running
Tues- fast walking
Wed- cardio class
Thur- bike riding
Fri- Swimming
Sat- Sprints
